Queensland

Queensland has Catchment Management Associations. There are four Catchment Management Associations in the Queensland's section of the Murray-Darling Basin.

Condamine Catchment Management Association

The Condamine Catchment Committee was formed in 1992 following community consultation into how catchment management could be implemented in the Queensland section of the Murray-Darling Basin.

The roles and responsibilities of the CCMA are:

- To collect and distribute natural resource management (NRM) information
   relevant to the Condamine Catchment.
- To be a representative body dealing with natural resource management issues.
- To provide comment representing the catchment community on NRM issues
  and decision-making processes.
- To act as a catalyst for community/government/industry interaction and
  cooperation on issues.
- To prioritise issues and set the strategic direction for NRM in the Condamine
  Catchment.
- To monitor, evaluate and comment on NRM activities of groups and government
  agencies in the Condamine Catchment

Border Rivers Catchment Management Association

The BRCMA cover's an area of 38 795kmē (the Queensland part of the catchment) and provides a forum for community input and discussion of solutions to land and water resource management issues. The forum enables the Catchment Committee to prioritise these issues, with the output being the development and implementation of the catchment strategy.

Maranoa-Balonne Catchment Management Association

The Maranoa-Balonne Catchment Management Association (MBCMA) is a community group with representatives from a variety of interest groups in the catchment. The MBCMA have been working to bring a strategic approach to improve the long-term productivity of the catchment for nine years

Warrego-Paroo Catchment Management Association

This group has taken a proactive step towards intergraded resources management by amalgamating with the South West Strategy Natural Resources Management Group (SWNRMG) and Landcare in South-west Queensland, to build a healthy, sustainable, attractive and profitable south-west Queensland, through the efficient management of its natural resources.
